10 Table Scraps Dogs Can Eat
Filed under: Dog Health,Dog Life — DoggySpace on August 17th, 2010
When a pet is considered part of the family, it often gets treated with the same amount of love, attention, and affection that a person would receive. This desire to include pets in family activities extends to the dinner table as well. It can be hard to resist your dog’s pleading eyes as you sit and enjoy your meal, but you may worry about what foods are safe to feed your dog. The next time Fido is staring longingly at your plate, go ahead and give him a few of these foods that have been verified as safe for dogs to eat.
1. Rice.
Rice is commonly used as a filler in dog foods, so it is safe to give your dog a few bites of rice off of your plate. You should, however, be careful not to feed your dog rice that contains onion or garlic, as these foods can be dangerous for dogs to consume.
2. Cooked eggs.
Boiled or scrambled eggs are healthy treats for dogs because of their vitamin and protein content. It is important that eggs are fully cooked, because raw eggs contain an enzyme that can reduce the dog’s ability to absorb certain B vitamins. Additionally, they may also make your dog sick due to salmonella.
3. Carrots.
Most dogs love carrots, and they are great snacks for your pet. They are low calorie foods, and are generally safe to feed healthy dogs. Carrots may be raw or cooked, depending on your dog’s individual preference.
4. Cheese.
Cheese is another great source of protein for dogs, and many canines love the texture. However, like humans, some dogs may experience a sensitivity to too much dairy. When feeding your dog cheese, start out with a small amount and monitor your pet for a dairy sensitivity.
5. Peanut butter.
Although many humans have a peanut allergy, dogs do not seem have a similar reaction. It is safe to feed peanut butter to a dog, and most dogs consider it a special treat. Due to the high fat content of peanut butter, dog owners should limit the amount of peanut butter that they feed their dogs to ensure that they eat other foods as a part of a balanced diet.
6. Berries.
As a special treat, many dogs love chilled or frozen berries. From blackberries to raspberries, dogs can safely eat small amounts of these sweet fruits. They are actually healthy for dogs to consume, because just like humans, canines benefit these antioxidant rich foods.
7. Chicken.
Chicken is a great table food treat for dogs, and most dogs will gobble down a serving of chicken faster than they will other treats. This nutritious meat is a great source of protein, and as long as oils and spices are limited, it is safe to give your dog cooked chicken.
8. Green beans.
Just like carrots are good snacks for dogs, green beans are a great option as well. As long as the salt content is limited, some veterinarians actually that recommend dog owners feed their obese dogs green beans because they are filling and relatively low in calories.
9. Seedless watermelon.
A nice, cool slice of watermelon is a favorite summertime treat for people, and your dog can take part in the pleasure as well. Dogs love the sweet taste of a juicy watermelon, and the fruit’s water content can help rehydrate your pet in the hot summer weather. Just be sure that you remove all seeds from the fruit before giving your dog a taste, because they can cause intestinal blockage.
10. Bananas.
The next time you run out of dog food and your pet needs a quick snack, reach for a banana. Bananas are safe for dogs to eat, and just like berries, they will benefit from the nutrients in these fruits.
Although people may be tempted to serve their dogs a helping of whatever is on their dinner plate, some foods should not be offered to dogs because they can cause a variety of health problems. However, when monitored closely, certain table foods are safe to feed your pet and offer a nice break from the standard commercially processed dog food fare.

" What I would ask "GOD" when I go over the rainbow:
Dear God: Is it on purpose our names are the same, only reversed?
Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?
Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?
Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the 'Chrysler Eagle' the 'Chrysler Beagle'?
Dear God: If a Dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God: We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
************************************************************************************
Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.
1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.
4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.
5 The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying 'hello'.
8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table .
9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house, not after.
10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.
11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.
12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
there that is just about covers some of the thing I would ast "GOD" when I go over the Rainebow...
Have a great week end & don't forget to turn the CLOCK'S ahead .........

************************** R.I.P. 1998 - 2010 ************************Typing through the tear's as I post this.....
My older brother "Rocko" has gone over the rainbow, he was the greatest brother a Doxie could have, he taught me how to dig holes, chase the squarles that came into our yard, his best thing waas he loved every one that went by the fence,he didn't bark much.
He didn't go out much in "Pal's" truck, as he got sick, but he did like to go to the beach, till the town stoped us from swimming on them...
So old man you are not in pain now & I will mis you... Buddy
My older brother haas gone over the rainbow i can't put into word's just hoe much I will miss him,we used to play all night when Buddy & "Pal" were trying to sleep, & when it was extra cold out he would snuggle up close to me & keep me sooooo warm. ( I will mise that the most..) So with a big tear I love you...
Your younger sister.......Lucy
I don't always type in Buddy's page, but I have had ROCKO (Nickname-Spot) he was one of those dogs that was just around, like he was a 100 % lap dog,he would go outside & just lay in the sun. But could he ever dig, when he got started his hole's were so deep, I would have to fill them in every night so know one wouls trip over them....
Sooo ROCKO, I know that you are up with your mom & dad & my wife, & have found out were to sleep and do other things.
I am going to put some pic that I found so Buddy's friends can see what a great dog you were... R.I.P. me friend.."Pal"

found this someware don't rember were....
Dogs nails, unlike human nails, are more often than not, not clear. This means that you cannot see the "quik" of their nail, whci is connected to major blood vessels. When a dogs nails are clipped, if clipped to close the 'quck', the nail will bleed profusicely; it quite painful to the dog, who can't tell you when you are too close to accidentally trimming too close to the 'quik'.
Most dogs do not like have their nails clipped partially because it is instinctive defense because it is just as painful and dangerous to not clip a dog's nails. Unclipped dog nails grow into the paw pads or catch on everything (forcing the nail to pull off, often damaging the paw pad and can result in even worse bleeing an other damage to the paw pad) and can literally pull the paw pad off.
Walking with or without ungroomed nails, is painful to doges. If your dog need his nails clipped, he is already in pain so the area is sensitive. When you try to clip a dogs' nails and he/she won't let you, it is usually because of combination of defensive anxiety because the dog is already in pain and/or the instictive fear that the trimming will rupture the blood vessels located within the base of nail. This occurs even in dogs with light/'see through

How God made : "D A C H S H U N D ' S"
I found this & thought I would drop it in hear..
Also Me & Lucy had a great Birthday,got new Bobo's Lot's of treets,went to ice-creem shop,got ice-creem,F.Frie's & 1/2 a hampurger,lot's of hug's..
Ok hears the pome...
God made a little dachsieto brighten up our dayHe took a bit of sunshineLaughter, love, and playand rolled it up in a sausage shape just right for a hug, with bright eyes full of mischiefset in its little mug.
With little paws a pattering,to take it here and thereand a cold wet nose but then He thought,“Oh, what about the hair?Shall I make it long and silky,or wiry, that’s so sweet,or make it simple, and have it smoothand satiny and neat?
And what about the color? How can I pick just one?Shall it be black, or red or brownor dappled or brindle or piebald, just for fun?
He pondered while He made the world,And all creatures great and small...And then the answer came to Him“OF COURSE! I’ll make them ALL!!”So remember that a dachshundis special, from above...
His coat of many color's is a sign of God’s great Love.

I got this from a posting on hotdogblog.com and thought it needed to be posted on my blog...(I know this is my 2ed post tonight...)
Oh by the way I tryed them and thay tast ickkey.... Buddy
"My son’s father is head of our K9 unit and he warned me against these months ago. Please don’t give these to your dog…..ANY dog. He has had two dogs get very sick from the pieces getting lodged and go undigested and cause serious health issues. These were big dogs…can you imagine what they can do to a small dog?"
A warning went out over a year ago, but I think most folks ignored it. Oh, you say, well my dog loves them and has never had a problem….ok….but there is a good chance that your dog could get sick or worse. There are much better treats out there and they’re not worth risking your dog’s life over.
Greenies are bad news!!!!!
Well you been warned and that goes for the big dog's...

THE "KISS"
********** THE KISS **********
She is pregnant;
he had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he continued to fight the fire.
When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest.
A photographer from the Charlotte , North Carolina newspaper, noticed her in the distance looking at the fireman.
He saw her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what she was going to do.
As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies and kissed him just as the photographer snapped this photograph.
The KissAnd people say animals are dumb

RULES TO GO BYE........
If it is a lap,all lap's are mine.
If I like it, it's mine.
If it's in my mouth, it's mine & all hooman lef-overs,go in my dish.
If I can take it from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
If I'm chewing something up like bones,Bobo's any stuffey, all the pieces are mine.
If it just looks like mine, it's mine.
If I saw it first, it's mine.
If you are playing with something and you drop it, it automatically becomes mine.
If it is on my side of the room,It's mine.
If it's broken, it's ALL yours.(Well maby,I'll have to think on that one.)
If I can think of some more I'll put them in...
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER...
